Mike and Alex met at a shop in the Chicago suburbs in the early 2010s. Back then, vinyl wrapping was niche — mostly commercial graphics and one-off builds. But the craft was evolving fast, and they saw where it was going.
After fifteen years working other people's shops, the two of them decided to do it right. In 2026, they opened Cortex Wrap in Elk Grove Village — walking distance from O'Hare, surrounded by some of the most interesting cars in the Midwest.
The mission was simple: build a shop with no shortcuts. Climate-controlled bays. Premium films only. Every installation inspected before it leaves. The kind of place they always wished existed when they were customers.
What we believe.
There's a massive difference between $8/yard vinyl and $22/yard cast film. We only stock premium cast vinyl from 3M, Avery, and Inozetek. The difference shows at year two.
Perfect film on a dirty panel looks terrible in a year. We clay bar, degrease, and inspect every surface before a single inch of film goes down. This is where most shops cut corners. We don't.
We'll tell you if your paint isn't ready for PPF. We'll tell you if a certain film won't work on your curves. We'd rather lose a sale than send you home with something that won't last.
